Photos of Br. John-Mary, O.C.D. running the 126th Boston Marathon
Br. John-Mary Winter picked up his Boston Marathon bib number today (Good Friday): 1110. He qualified to run in the "ELITE" first wave of runners (see schedule below) so will start running at 10:00 AM on Easter Monday.
Here is a photo of him in his unique, modified runner's tank (with a blessed Brown Scapular from Avila stitched directly onto the tank—definitely a "FIRST" for the Boston Marathon!) You may follow Brother's run via the BAA website on Monday using his number (1110): www.baa.org.
He is registered as JEREMY WINTER.
You may want to download the app ahead of time (on your tablet or phone); it features live tracking of all participants: B.A.A. Mobile App | Boston Athletic Association.
Brother plans to print out the names and intentions of all those who have donated and will carry the list in his back pocket during the race, praying for those people along the way. There is still time for you to (figuratively) "run with Brother" on Easter Monday.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the prize? Run so as to win.

I’m excited to share with you that I will be running in the 126th Boston Marathon on April 18, 2022. Our monastery in Brighton is located right next to the course of the race, so I was inspired to participate in the world’s oldest marathon.
Qualifying and training for the Boston Marathon is no small undertaking, especially on top of my theology studies at Boston College, Carmelite ministry, and life of prayer and community in the monastery. It has been a joy to offer up the long, difficult runs as a prayer for my fellow Carmelites, including all of you in the Secular Order. As I train and race, I’ll be fundraising to help the Brighton monastery support the spiritual, educational, and temporal needs of the students in our Province. Please consider joining me in this challenge by giving as you are able! Check out this video (below) to learn a little more about my journey to the Boston Marathon.
